ABOUT

Overview

EthScribe is a web application that makes it easy to place text messages or as we call them, "Scribes", into the Ethereum Blockchain. Scribes are text limited to 140 characters and are inscribed into the Ethereum blockchain for eternity.

Scribes are immutable and final meaning they cannot be modified or erased once they are admitted to the blockchain. When you submit your Scribe, make sure it’s something that you will be proud of for generations to come.

Scribes are not free. The process of writing a message to the Ethereum blockchain requires computing time to generate proof of work by blockchain miners.

Note: Scribes settled in the Ethereum Blockchain do not have monetary value; A Scribe is not a cryptocurrency or token which can be traded or sold.

A Scribe may be considered to be some kind or form of a public notary, where Scribes are validated by hundreds of thousands of computers worldwide working around the clock to maintain a public ledger of trusted transactions.

Scribes

A Scribe is a text message that is up to 140 characters long. Scribes can be written in any language or script. Emoji symbols are supported, too. Some foreign language characters (Unicode) are counted as 2 characters towards the message limit. Each emoji symbol counts as 4 characters.

For example the character ‘A’ counts as 1 character, the Chinese character ‘我’ counts as 2 characters and the emoji ❤️ count as 4 characters.

Ethscribe

The basic function of the EthScribe web application is to post EthScribe scribes and make sure that Scribes are admitted to the Ethereum Blockchain. Once a Scribe is admitted, EthScribe maintains a Scribe transaction reference for ease of browsing and searching.

When a Scribe is successfully admitted to the blockchain users are notified via e-mail. The e-mail notification contains the Scribe's Ethereum blockchain references such as block number, transaction hash, and URL link to Etherscan.io, where a user can verify that the Scribe is in the Ethereum Blockchain.

In addition to posting a Scribe to the Ethereum Blockchain, the EthScribe web application provides the ability to browse and search for Scribes in the Ehereum Blockchain.
